Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager Couple to oversee the day-to-day operation of a safari lodge within the Welgevonden Game Reserve . This is an exciting opportunity for a strong hospitality management couple with extensive lodge experience, excellent leadership skills and a genuine passion for creating exceptional guest experiences. The successful couple will take overall responsibility for lodge operations, team management, financial performance, guest satisfaction and maintaining consistently high hospitality standards. The roles require hands-on managers who enjoy being actively involved in the operation, developing their teams and ensuring that every aspect of the guest journey is delivered to a high standard. Key Responsibilities Take overall responsibility for the successful day-to-day management Oversee front-of-house, back-of-house and general lodge operations. Maintain exceptional standards of guest service and guest satisfaction. Work closely with Heads of Department to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations. Conduct daily operational meetings covering arrivals, departures, maintenance, food and beverage, special requests and guest activities. Build strong relationships with guests, staff, travel trade partners, neighbouring lodges and the local community. Manage budgets, operational costs and overall financial performance. Monitor expenditure and identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and cost control. Assist with financial forecasting and work closely with the finance team. Continuously develop and enhance the overall guest experience across accommodation, food and beverage, safari activities and all guest touchpoints. Oversee staffing levels, leave rosters, payroll administration and general HR requirements. Lead; mentor, motivate and develop lodge teams. Manage performance, training, onboarding and ongoing skills development. Foster a positive, professional and collaborative working environment. Ensure lodge standards, policies and operating procedures are consistently maintained. Oversee lodge equipment, facilities and operational assets. Maintain health and safety standards and ensure relevant procedures are followed. Identify and implement practical sustainability initiatives within the operation. Monitor hospitality and safari trends and introduce appropriate new ideas and experiences. Host guests, travel agents, media representatives, VIPs and special groups when required. Requirements Previous experience managing a luxury safari lodge or high-end hospitality operation is essential. A minimum of five years' management / leadership experience . Relevant hospitality or tourism qualification. Strong understanding of lodge operations across both front and back of house. Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing hospitality teams. Good financial understanding, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control and basic accounting principles. Strong HR and people-management experience. Excellent guest relations and hosting skills. Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities. Good computer and administrative skills. General technical and mechanical knowledge would be advantageous.
