Job Summary
Job Purpose The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supporting the maintenance function of the lodge through hands-on execution and supervision of daily maintenance tasks. This role ensures that all lodge facilities, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained to high standards, contributing to a seamless guest experience in a remote bush environment. Key Responsibilities 1. Daily Maintenance Operations Perform and supervise routine maintenance and repairs across the lodge Ensure guest rooms, public areas, kitchens, and staff facilities are well maintained Conduct daily inspections and address maintenance issues promptly Assist in implementing preventative maintenance schedules 2. Bush & Remote Infrastructure Maintain boreholes, water pumps, filtration systems, and water reticulation Assist with generator operations, solar systems, and electrical supply Ensure roads, pathways, fencing, and general lodge infrastructure are maintained Support upkeep of lodge vehicles and equipment when required 3. Team Supervision Supervise maintenance staff and allocate daily tasks Ensure work is completed efficiently and to standard Provide on-the-job training and guidance Promote safe working practices within the team 4. Technical Support Carry out electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance tasks Identify faults and perform basic troubleshooting Escalate complex issues to the Maintenance Manager or external contractors 5. Health & Safety Ensure adherence to health and safety standards Assist with fire prevention measures and emergency readiness Maintain a clean and safe working environment Report hazards and incidents immediately 6. Stock & Tools Control Monitor and maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies Report stock shortages and assist with ordering Ensure proper use and care of equipment 7. Guest Experience Respond quickly to maintenance issues affecting guests Ensure minimal disruption during maintenance work Maintain high standards of presentation across the lodge Minimum Requirements Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent Trade qualification (Electrical, Plumbing, or similar advantageous) 2–4 years’ experience in maintenance, preferably in hospitality or lodge environment Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance Experience working in a remote or bush environment advantageous Valid driver’s license Key Skills & Competencies Strong hands-on technical skills Ability to supervise and guide a small team Good problem-solving ability Ability to work independently and take initiative Strong attention to detail Good communication skills Physically fit and able to work in demanding conditions Working Conditions Live-in position at a remote lodge in Limpopo Required to work weekends and public holidays Hands-on; physically active role Comfortable working in bush conditions
