Job Summary
We are seeking an up and coming, energetic and experienced Maintenance Manager to take responsibility for the maintenance, reliability and long-term stewardship of a prestigious wine estate and its extensive infrastructure. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring that the estate’s buildings, production facilities, hospitality spaces, staff accommodation, utilities, vehicles, equipment and operational infrastructure are safe, functional, well maintained and consistently presented to the highest standards. The successful candidate will champion a preventative maintenance culture, anticipating issues before they become operational disruptions and protecting the long-term value of the estate’s significant infrastructure investment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the maintenance and upkeep of all estate buildings, facilities, equipment, vehicles and infrastructure. Develop and manage comprehensive preventative maintenance programmes, asset registers and maintenance schedules. Oversee critical utilities including water systems, boreholes, pumps, filtration, electrical, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing and other essential services. Manage maintenance teams, contractors, suppliers and specialist service providers. Lead maintenance projects, refurbishments, upgrades and infrastructure improvements. Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and security requirements, including fire and emergency systems. Develop and manage maintenance budgets, capital expenditure and long-term asset replacement plans. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability, resilience and resource utilisation. Work closely with viticulture, winemaking, hospitality, operations and leadership teams to ensure reliable business continuity. Respond effectively to urgent maintenance and operational issues when required. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: SA Citizen Matric / Grade 12 qualification Live in or able to relocate to the Overberg Region, Western Cape A minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintenance management or a senior maintenance leadership role working for a hospitality or wine estate Strong technical knowledge across mechanical; electrical, plumbing, water systems and general building maintenance . Proven experience with preventative maintenance and asset management. Experience managing teams, contractors, budgets and maintenance projects. Experience with utilities, water infrastructure and critical operational systems. Strong understanding of health, safety and compliance requirements. Excellent planning, organisational, problem-solving and project management skills. High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and craftsmanship. A practical, hands-on and solutions-oriented approach. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. Well presented A relevant technical qualification in Maintenance, Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical or a related field would be advantageous. A valid driver’s license. Flexibility to respond to emergencies outside normal working hours when required. This is more than a maintenance position.
