Maintenance Manager - 5-Star Luxury Game Lodge - Madikwe Game Reserve, North West Kendrick Recruitment is searching for a hands-on, experienced and highly organised Maintenance Manager for a well-regarded 5-star luxury safari lodge in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, North West Province, forming part of a respected South African hospitality group. With a team of 65 employees and a dedicated maintenance team of 8, this is a practical, leadership-driven role for a technically skilled and solution-focused professional who takes genuine ownership of the maintenance function. The successful candidate will ensure the lodge is maintained to an immaculate standard with minimal disruption to guests or operations. This is a single, live-in position. Minimum Requirements: Minimum 3 years' maintenance management experience within a luxury lodge, hotel or similar hospitality environment - essential Proven ability to lead and manage a team of approximately 8 maintenance staff - essential Strong practical knowledge of electrical, plumbing and general building maintenance Experience with air-conditioning systems, geysers, pumps, pools and water systems - highly advantageous Knowledge of solar systems and basic electrical troubleshooting Good understanding of preventative maintenance planning Strong understanding of OHS Act, firefighting compliance and first aid Good organisational and stock control skills Basic computer literacy including MS Office (Excel and Word) - essential Experience with property management software advantageous (training available) Ability to troubleshoot problems and find practical solutions independently Valid South African driver's licence - essential Calm; positive and solution-focused under pressure Stable work history with contactable references Key Responsibilities: ? Maintenance & Preventative Maintenance Oversee and execute maintenance and preventative maintenance across all lodge buildings, appliances and infrastructure including air-conditioning, geysers, plumbing, electrical systems, pools, decking, water plant, French drains, lodge fence and fire break Maintain and upkeep the lodge solar plant and ensure panels and surrounding areas are kept clean and operational Assist with vehicle maintenance and coordinate with the mechanic for repairs as required Execute emergency maintenance after hours when required ? Team Management & Development Lead; manage and develop the maintenance team of 8 staff Delegate effectively, set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for quality and standards Coordinate guides and trackers on non-guest days to support maintenance operations Train staff on correct procedures and health and safety standards with full documentation for Skills Development purposes ?️ Safety & Compliance Maintain and inspect all firefighting equipment to the required standard Implement and maintain documented Fire Plans and Fire Drills in line with OHS Act and insurance requirements Ensure workplace health and safety compliance across all maintenance activities ? Stock; Security & Administration Manage all maintenance stock, tools and spares with strong controls to minimise loss and maximise efficiency Conduct monthly stock takes and maintain accurate records Manage lodge security including night watchman oversight and cover arrangements Fulfil night duty and communication responsibilities on a rotational basis Complete basic administrative tasks including emails and reporting in Excel and Word Package: Gross Salary: R20,000 to R25,000 per month (DOE) Medical Aid: R1,478.35 employer contribution per month (after successful 3-month probation) Live-in: Private room with en-suite bathroom (shower, basin and toilet) All meals provided (breakfast, lunch and dinner) Uniform and laundry/room-cleaning service provided Free WiFi Staff gratuities 16 lodge bednights per year for friends or family Reasonably unlimited staff village bednights for friends or family 2 complimentary bednights at a group property for yourself and one guest Access to lodge gym Staff discounts on drinks and curio items Leave cycle: 36 days on / 12 days off 21 floating days per year (subject to operational requirements) Should you feel you are the right fit for this role, please apply with your updated CV, contactable references and a recent head and shoulders photo ASAP! ?
