To effectively manage and control stock levels, ensuring that all stock received, stored, issued and dispatched is accurately recorded and accounted for. The Stock Controller is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, conducting stock counts and identifying and resolving stock discrepancies.
Receive and verify stock against delivery notes, purchase orders and system records.
Accurately capture all stock movements on the relevant stock control system.
Monitor stock levels and ensure sufficient stock is available for operational requirements.
Conduct regular stock counts, cycle counts and physical stocktakes.
Investigate and report stock variances, losses, damages and discrepancies.
Ensure stock is correctly labelled, stored and organised.
Monitor stock movement between different locations, departments or warehouses.
Process stock issues, transfers, returns and adjustments accurately.
Ensure all stock documentation is completed and filed correctly.
Assist with monthly and annual stocktakes.
Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure system quantities correspond with physical stock.
Identify slow-moving, obsolete, damaged or excess stock and report accordingly.
Work closely with Procurement, Warehouse, Sales and Operations teams regarding stock requirements.
Ensure stock is handled and stored in accordance with company procedures and safety requirements.
Assist with investigating stock-related queries from internal departments and clients.
Prepare stock reports and provide management with accurate inventory information.
Ensure compliance with company stock control policies, procedures and SOPs.
Maintain a clean, organised and secure stock/warehouse environment.
Perform any other stock-control-related duties reasonably required by management.
Grade 12 / Matric.
Previous experience in stock control, inventory management or warehouse operations.
At least 2 years' relevant experience preferred.
Computer literate with good Excel skills.
Experience working on stock/inventory management systems.
Good numerical and administrative skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Valid driver's licence and/or forklift licence would be advantageous, where applicable.
