We’re seeking a compassionate, physically and mentally energetic live-in facilitator to support a wonderful, independently minded 53-year-old autistic woman. This rotational role (24/7, three-weekly with flexibility to be available for emergencies throughout the month) offers the chance to build a meaningful connection, become an integral part of her routine, while supporting daily life in a calm and culturally rich home.
She enjoys walks, crafts, and deeply values the Arts—including theatre, cinema, music performances, ballet, and other cultural activities. The ideal candidate will bring warmth, creativity, and a great sense of humour—someone who can introduce fun and lightness into everyday routines while maintaining a courteous, polished presence.
An openness to learning and a commitment to collaborative development are essential, including readiness to be trained and supported by the current multi-disciplinary care team. The ability to be pro-active and take initiative along with a strong commitment to person-centred care and empathetic communication is essential.
Main Purpose of the job:
To offer friendship, company and personalised guidance and support, in daily activities and living. The ideal candidate is an experienced mother, has a background in adult development/or psychology, has mental and emotional stamina, and a special interest and passion in neurodiversity. Availability to commit to being a secure, long-term source of support are of the utmost importance.
Job Objectives:
• Becoming a core member of the multi-disciplinary care team to support the client’s individual needs.
• Providing daily companionship and emotional support for her.
• Managing and planning weekly activities that are both stimulating and enjoyable.
• Responsible for managing the household budget, with confidence in tracking expenses and providing clear, accurate accounts of weekly expenditure.
• Facilitate basic hygiene and health routines by encouraging bath time, daily walks, and healthy eating—primarily through positive example and low‑demand support.
• Support and scaffolding for her regulation needs (lessening any uncertainty and anxiety).
• To carry out duties such as facilitating daily and therapeutic activities and taking her on outings and to appointments.
• Facilitating and planning creative stimulating and leisure activities using a client-led approach.
• Supporting the understanding of her individual difference sensory profile, and executive functioning (i.e. assisting with creating a routine with the use of visual aids).
• Responsible for grocery shopping and preparing daily breakfasts, as well as weekend meals. Actively involve the client in cooking activities to foster skill development, independence, and enjoyment.
• Provide occasional night-time support when needed, such as during illness or other exceptional circumstances
General Requirements:
• Valid driver’s license with proven proficiency in city and night driving; confident navigating high-traffic urban environments using GPS – Essential.
• Well-spoken in English– Essential.
• Computer fluency – Essential.
• A clear criminal record - Essential
Job-Related work experience:
• Previous experience in a role supporting neurodivergent individuals - Essential.
• Previous experience in adult development/field of psychology – Highly Desirable
• Experience in a care-taking role as a mother or similar – Highly Desirable
• Familiarity with Autistic and/or Neurodivergent Adults – Essential.
• Previous experience in facilitation and life skills training – Desirable.
• Willingness to be trained on the job by the current team of carers, or other members of care team - Essential
Job-Related Knowledge:
• Familiarity and knowledge of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) - Essential.
• Familiarity with low arousal, client-led, neuro-affirming approach - Essential.

• Friday 17h00 to Friday17h00: 24 Hour care (Three-weekly to bi-weekly)
• On stand-by in case of emergencies on off rotations
• Warm support, assistance and training from a current care team.
• Meals: 2 prepared meals daily (excluding breakfasts weekends)
• Bedroom with own bathroom – during the on-duty week.
• Leisure activities: including regularly attending concerts and cinema viewings.
• Use of the family vehicle while actively fulfilling the duties of this role – petrol included. Commuting to and from place of work is excluded.
