Job Summary
The Systems Analyst (Intermediate Level) supports the analysis, implementation, and maintenance of business and operational systems used across mining operations. The role assists in improving system efficiency, supporting users, and ensuring that digital solutions align with operational requirements within the mining environment. The incumbent works closely with IT teams, operational departments, and system vendors to ensure reliable system performance and data accuracy across mining, engineering, and business functions.
Key Responsibilities
Systems Analysis & Support
• Assist in analysing business processes and system requirements across mining operations.
• Support the design, testing, and implementation of new systems or system enhancements.
• Provide first-line technical support for operational systems and applications.
• Identify system issues, troubleshoot faults, and escalate complex problems to senior analysts or vendors.
Business Process Support
• Document current and future business processes related to production, maintenance, and supply chain systems.
• Assist with process improvement initiatives to enhance system efficiency.
• Support system integration between operational platforms such as ERP, maintenance systems, and reporting tools.
Data Management & Reporting
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of system data.
• Generate reports and dashboards for operational and management decision-making.
• Assist in analysing operational data to identify trends and performance insights.
System Implementation
• Participate in system upgrades, testing, and deployment activities.
• Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and document test results.
• Assist in the roll-out of new digital tools or process improvements across mining sites.
User Training & Documentation
• Provide user training and support for system users across departments.
• Maintain system documentation, user guides, and knowledge bases.
• Ensure compliance with IT governance, security policies, and operational procedures.
Compliance & Safety
• Ensure systems comply with South African mining legislation and internal policies.
• Promote adherence to data protection and information security standards.
• Support safe work practices aligned with mining operational requirements.
• Mining operations require strict compliance with safety and regulatory standards within the industry.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree / National Diploma in:
• Information Systems
• Computer Science
• Information Technology
• Business Information Systems
Relevant certifications (advantageous):
• SQL
• Microsoft / Data Analytics tools
• ITIL Foundation
Experience:
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
• Exposure to enterprise systems or data analysis
• Experience within Mining, heavy industry, or operations environments will be advantageous.
Technical Skills:
• Basic systems analysis and business process mapping
• SQL/database querying
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Power BI preferred)
• ERP Systems (e.g. SAP)
• Basic Networking and troubleshooting
• Data analysis and reporting
