We are looking for a highly skilled and customer-focused Network Engineer to join our dynamic team and take ownership of designing, implementing, and supporting complex enterprise network and VoIP environments. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience across LAN, WAN, VoIP, Linux, network security, and multi-vendor infrastructure, with the ability to troubleshoot, optimise, and deliver reliable connectivity solutions.
This role is suited for a technically driven professional who thrives in challenging environments, has a passion for networking innovation, and possesses deep expertise in routing and switching, Fortinet security solutions, SD-WAN, enterprise Wi-Fi, and voice technologies. You will play a key role in ensuring secure, scalable, and high-performing network solutions while collaborating with teams and customers to deliver exceptional service.
What you'll do:
Proven experience in VoIP, Linux and Networking.
Good understanding of the Linux operating system.
Strong understanding of the TCP/IP networking protocol suite.
Good understanding of networking, such as LAN, WAN, VLANs, WIFI, etc.
A good understanding of Voice Over IP (VOIP) on platforms such as, but not limited to, 3CX, Asterisk, CIC, etc.
Preferably experience in working on a range of telephony solutions, including Cloud or Hosted (VoIP) and SIP services.
Experience in designing and documenting networking solutions using Visio or Draw.io.
Multi-Vendor Hardware Lifecycle: Proven experience in the physical installation ("rack and stack"), configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network hardware, specifically Fortinet, Juniper, Huawei, Cisco and Ubiquiti switching and routing portfolios.
Network Security & SD-WAN: Hands-on experience deploying and managing Fortinet Firewalls and executing Fortinet SD-WAN policies for WAN traffic optimization and security.
Advanced Routing & Switching: Deep technical knowledge and hands-on configuration experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols, with specific emphasis on BGP (path selection, peering) and Spanning Tree Protocol (STP/RSTP) loop prevention in multi-vendor environments.
Enterprise Wireless: Experience surveying, installing, and managing enterprise Wi-Fi solutions utilising Ruckus and Ubiquiti access points and wireless controllers.
Your Expertise:
At least 5 years of hands-on experience in configuration and troubleshooting LAN, WAN and VoIP solutions.
English - Can converse and has the necessary email skills.
Excellent Customer interaction with clear, concise, and effective communication skills.
Effectively collaborate with the team to achieve common goals.
Identify and resolve issues effectively.
Qualifications:
National Senior Certificate/ Matric/ N3/ Grade 12
Degree or Diploma in a related discipline.
ITIL Foundation certification.
Cisco CCNP Enterprise and CCNA is advantageous.
Fortinet NSE 4 / 7 (Network Security Professional/Analyst) or Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP) in Network Security.
Juniper JNCIA-Junos / JNCIS-ENT or equivalent Huawei certifications (HCIA/HCIP-Datacom) are highly advantageous.
