?Lodge-based Vacancy: Field Guide *OPEN TO COUPLES (Lodge Manager & Guide compilation) ? Location: Kalahari Region, South Africa ? Type of Property: Exclusive 5-Star Safari Lodge, Private Wildlife Reserve ? Salary: R16,000 – R18,000 per month (DOE) - Highly negotiable! ? Package: Live-in with benefits About the Position We are seeking an experienced and passionate Field Guide to join the guiding team at an exclusive luxury reserve. This role offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in an unspoiled wilderness environment, providing exceptional safari experiences to discerning guests from across the globe. The position is also open to couples where the partner has relevant lodge-based experience (for example as a Lodge Manager ). Key Responsibilities Deliver world-class guided game drives and walking safaris, ensuring a safe, educational, and memorable experience for guests. Share extensive knowledge of the natural environment, wildlife behaviour, conservation, and local culture. Host and interact with guests to create an engaging and personalised safari experience. Conduct pre-drive briefings and post-drive debriefs, always maintaining professional guest communication. Maintain safari vehicles, equipment, and rifles in pristine condition. Uphold lodge and reserve conservation principles, safety standards, and guiding protocols. Assist in lodge activities as required, working as part of the wider hospitality team. Minimum Requirements FGASA NQF4 (or higher) with up-to-date membership Valid PDP Rifle Competency (current, valid documentation) Trails Qualification – Lead Trails preferred, but candidates close to achieving Lead Trails will be considered Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Field Guide in a 5* lodge environment at reputable properties Excellent hosting and guest interaction skills, with a focus on guest satisfaction Knowledge of and passion for conservation and guiding best practices Strong interpersonal skills, a proactive approach, and ability to work within a professional guiding team Personal Attributes Professional; well-presented, and engaging personality Strong passion for nature, conservation, and guest education Calm under pressure with sound decision-making skills Flexible; adaptable, and solutions-driven Hands-on approach with a high level of integrity and professionalism Package & Benefits Salary: R16;000 – R18,000 per month (depending on experience) - Negotiable!
