Field Guide | Luxury Safari Lodge | Kruger National Park Kendrick Recruitment is now seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Field Guide for a prestigious luxury safari lodge located within Kruger National Park . This position is ideal for an experienced guide with a strong background in Big 5 reserves and a love for immersive wildlife experiences. Location: Kruger National Park Salary: R8,000 – R10,000 Negotiable (Live-In) Key Responsibilities: Safari Activities Lead game drives, bush walks, and other activities to offer guests an educational and immersive wildlife experience Ensure guest safety during all activities Wildlife & Environmental Knowledge Possess in-depth understanding of local wildlife, ecosystems, and conservation practices Share insights about animal behavior, bird species, flora, and local communities Guest Interaction Professionally engage with guests to deliver exceptional service and memorable experiences Tailor guiding to suit various guest preferences, nationalities, and age groups Host meals and drinks as needed, and communicate guest needs or issues discreetly to management Food & Beverage Serve food and beverages according to hygiene and lodge standards Possess basic wine, spirits, coffee, and tea service knowledge Be familiar with bush meal service and dietary requirement handling Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance Conduct daily vehicle and equipment checks as per SOPs Maintain stocked cooler and hot boxes aligned with guest preferences and lodge standards Ensure safety protocols are consistently followed Conservation & Compliance Follow all SANParks rules and environmental protocols Comply with game drive regulations and educate guests on sustainable tourism practices Minimize off-road driving and environmental disruption Emergency & Safety Response Handle emergencies with calm efficiency, following first aid and emergency procedures Ensure constant guest and personal safety In-Camp Support Assist with problem animal control and educating staff on safety around wildlife Provide transportation support, luggage handling, guest transfers, and assist with vehicle recovery Help with general maintenance and workshop duties as needed Rifle Handling Manage rifle and ammunition according to best practices and lodge SOPs Maintain firearms in proper working condition with appropriate paperwork and storage Minimum Requirements: Valid South African Field Guide License Valid PrDP (Professional Driving Permit) FGASA NQF Level 4 with at least Backup Trails (Lead Trails an advantage) DEAT (Mpumalanga) Registration Minimum 3 years' experience as a Field Guide in a Big 5 game reserve Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an international guest audience Outgoing; engaging, and professional personality Basic knowledge of an African language such as Shangaan is an advantage Familiarity with off-road driving, vehicle maintenance, and radio etiquette Valid First Aid certification Work Conditions & Benefits: 21 days on / 7 days off work cycle Accommodation provided (single occupant; shared living) Uniform and meals provided 5% Provident Fund contribution by the company Pets are not permitted due to the nature of the environment Contract conditions apply Remuneration: Final salary will be discussed during the interview process or upon individual request.
