FIELD SALES REPRESENTATIVE – GROCERY & RETAIL
Location: Gauteng
Employment Type: Contract
A leading technology and e-commerce organisation is looking for a Field Sales Representative to acquire, onboard and grow Grocery & Retail merchant partnerships within an assigned territory.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prospect, cold call, visit and acquire new Grocery & Retail merchants.
Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and pitching through to contract closure.
Onboard new merchants and coordinate account setup and go-live.
Conduct store-level training and support merchants during their first 90 days.
Build strong relationships with business owners, franchisees and store teams.
Identify opportunities to expand existing brands across additional stores.
Manage the sales pipeline and maintain accurate CRM records.
Monitor merchant performance and drive activation and growth.
REQUIREMENTS
1–3 years’ experience in B2B sales, field sales, account management or a similar commercial role.
Experience in Grocery & Retail, FMCG, technology, e-commerce or marketplaces is advantageous.
Strong sales, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Target-driven, self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
Comfortable with regular travel and face-to-face merchant visits.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
CRM and Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets experience.
Valid driver's licence and own vehicle would be advantageous.
Key focus: New merchant acquisition, activation, successful go-live, first 90-day performance and brand expansion.
