Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Public Health Impact Organisation (Limpopo, South Africa) Executive Search | Strategic Leadership | Healthcare Systems Strengthening Overview Lead a high-impact, mission-driven organisation at the forefront of strengthening South Africa’s public healthcare system. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced CEO to drive systems-level change, build strategic partnerships, and deliver measurable health outcomes in a dynamic, field-based environment in Limpopo. The Opportunity A respected, purpose-led non-profit operating within the public healthcare ecosystem is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide visionary leadership and operational excellence. Reporting to the Board, the CEO will shape strategy, scale impact, and ensure long-term sustainability through strong partnerships, robust programmes, and disciplined execution. This role is ideally suited to a senior executive currently residing in Hoedspruit or Tzaneen (or willing to relocate), with an expectation of on-site presence 2–3 days per week . Core Mandate Drive strategic growth and systems-level impact within public healthcare Lead organisation-wide performance ; ensuring alignment between mission, programmes, and resources Secure and diversify funding streams ; strengthening long-term sustainability Serve as the primary ambassador to government, donors, and key stakeholders Build a high-performance leadership team and culture Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Leadership & Vision Define; implement, and continuously refine the organisational strategy Identify opportunities for innovation and expansion within public health systems Align programmes with national health priorities and measurable outcomes 2. Governance & Board Engagement Partner closely with the Board on governance, strategy, and compliance Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical frameworks Provide high-quality reporting and strategic insight 3. Programme Oversight & Impact Oversee programme design, delivery, and integration across pillars Embed strong Monitoring; Evaluation & Learning (MEL) frameworks Ensure programmes are scalable, sustainable, and outcome-driven 4. Financial Sustainability & Fundraising Lead fundraising strategy across donors; grants, and partnerships Strengthen financial planning, budgeting, and reporting disciplines Cultivate long-term relationships with philanthropic and institutional funders 5. Partnerships & External Relations Act as the organisation’s public face and strategic ambassador Build high-value partnerships with: Government (especially Departments of Health) Academic and research institutions NGOs and international funders Elevate organisational visibility and influence nationally and globally 6. People & Organisational Leadership Lead and develop a capable senior management team Foster a values-driven; collaborative, and accountable culture Oversee HR strategy, performance management, and staff wellbeing 7.
