This is a pivotal senior role well suited to a technically strong, hands-on professional who leads with quiet confidence and has a natural ability to build, guide, and inspire a diverse team. The successful candidate will take ownership of all engineering operations across the full property portfolio. Beyond technical execution, this person will bring a sharp operational mind to improving how work is planned, how materials are managed, and how preventative maintenance and project delivery are structured across the business. Day to day responsibility spans a wide range of critical systems including solar energy installations, water reticulation and pump infrastructure, generator operations, airstrip and road upkeep, camp technical systems, and fleet support. The role carries meaningful accountability for workshop inventory, supplier relationships, and capital expenditure, requiring someone who can control costs without compromising standards. The right person for this role will take real pride in doing things properly and will understand that the seamless guest experience at a luxury property is built on the invisible, consistent work of a well-run engineering function. Requirements • A relevant engineering qualification such as a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or a recognised Trade Certificate in a relevant discipline. • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior engineering or maintenance leadership role gained in a remote bush-based environment. • Solid working knowledge of solar energy systems, water infrastructure, and generator operations • Practical experience with heavy equipment, fleet management, and workshop oversight • Familiarity with road maintenance and airstrip upkeep • Well-organised approach to inventory control, procurement, and maintenance scheduling • Hands-on experience owning operational and capital expenditure budgets • Strong ability to plan and deliver technical projects from inception through to completion • Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to perform consistently in a remote and demanding environment • Prior exposure to East African operations or safari lodge environments is a distinct advantage Salary On application (DOE) with additional benefits including accommodation ➡️ PLEASE NOTE Although we appreciate all applications received, we will only reply to those candidates who have the background and experience required.
