Job Summary
Role Overview The Venue Banqueting Manager is a professional, organised, and service-driven person that oversees the successful planning, coordination, and execution of banquets, conferences, weddings, corporate functions, and private events. The Banqueting Manager will be responsible for ensuring that every event is delivered to a high standard, from setup through to service and breakdown. This role requires strong leadership, excellent client-facing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage teams in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Key Responsibilities Event Operations •Manage the day-to-day banqueting operations for all events, including weddings, conferences, corporate functions, private parties, and special occasions. •Coordinate event setup, service, and breakdown according to function sheets, client requirements, and The Venue’s standards. •Ensure all event spaces are prepared on time, including furniture layout, table settings, décor requirements, AV needs, and service stations. •Oversee food and beverage service during events to ensure smooth delivery and excellent guest experience. •Handle last-minute operational changes calmly and professionally. Client Service Act as a key point of contact for clients during event execution. •Welcome clients and guests where required and ensure their expectations are met throughout the event. •Resolve guest or client concerns promptly, professionally, and with a service-focused approach. •Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal departments. Team Leadership •Supervise; brief, and motivate banqueting staff before and during events. •Allocate duties to waiters, bartenders, porters, and casual staff. •Ensure staff are well-presented, punctual, and trained in service standards. •Monitor team performance and provide guidance where needed. •Assist with staff scheduling according to event requirements. Planning and Coordination •Review function sheets and event details in advance to ensure operational readiness. •Liaise with the kitchen, events team, bar, housekeeping, maintenance, and management to ensure all departments are aligned. •Conduct pre-event checks to confirm that all requirements have been met. •Assist with stock control, equipment checks, and operational planning for upcoming functions. Standards; Compliance and Safety •Ensure all areas comply with health, safety, hygiene, and fire regulations. •Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation in all banqueting areas. •Ensure responsible service of alcohol and compliance with company policies. •Report maintenance issues, incidents, breakages, or client complaints to management. •Monitor the correct use and care of equipment, furniture, linen, glassware, and décor items. Requirements •Previous experience in banqueting, events, hospitality, or food and beverage management. •Strong leadership and staff supervision skills. •Excellent communication and client service abilities. •Highly organised with strong attention to detail. •Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple events or priorities. •Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. •Good knowledge of food and beverage service standards. •Ability to read and interpret function sheets, floor plans, and event schedules. •Computer literacy will be advantageous. •A hospitality qualification will be advantageous but is not essential.
