Safari JOBS is recruiting for an experienced and hands-on Assistant Lodge Manager to assist with the day-to-day management of a well-established, high-occupancy safari property that is focused on raising its standards and strengthening its position as a leading lodge within the North-West region. This is a general lodge operations role and requires someone with a broad understanding of all aspects of lodge management, rather than a candidate focused on one particular department. The successful candidate should have experience working across Food & Beverage, Front Office and Reservations, Housekeeping, Guest Relations and general lodge operations, with a good understanding of how each department contributes to the overall guest experience. The Assistant Lodge Manager will work closely with the Lodge Manager to ensure that the lodge operates efficiently, consistently and to a high standard. The role will involve assisting with staff management, guest relations, operational planning, problem-solving, administration and maintaining standards across all departments. The position is both operational and administrative. The successful candidate must be comfortable being visible and hands-on in the lodge while also having the ability to manage the administrative requirements of the role accurately and efficiently. Strong administrative skills are essential, including planning, reporting, communication, record keeping, follow-up and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Previous experience as an Assistant Lodge Manager, Lodge Manager, Operations Manager within a 4 or 5* luxury lodge environment. Strong practical experience in the day-to-day running of a lodge. Experience across multiple areas of lodge operations, including Food & Beverage, Front Office/Reservations, Housekeeping and Guest Relations. A good understanding of the interdepartmental workings of a lodge and the ability to coordinate different areas effectively. Previous experience supervising and managing staff, including training, coaching and addressing performance issues. Strong administrative and organisational skills are essential - the successful candidate must be able to manage reports, planning, communication, record keeping, follow-ups and multiple administrative responsibilities accurately and consistently. Strong computer literacy and confidence working with Microsoft Office and other hospitality systems, e.g. Nebula etc. Strong guest relations skills with the ability to deal confidently and professionally with guest concerns. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good understanding of operational controls, stock management and departmental costs. Ability to work under pressure and remain calm and practical when dealing with operational challenges. A hands-on management style with the ability to lead by example. Strong attention to detail and a high standard of personal presentation. Ability to work independently while also working closely with the Lodge Manager and Heads of Department. ?????????? ?????? Assist the Lodge Manager with the overall day-to-day running of the lodge. Provide operational support to the Heads of Department and assist with the effective coordination of the lodge as a whole. Monitor daily operations and ensure that standards and procedures are consistently maintained. Ensure a high standard of guest service throughout the lodge and take ownership of resolving guest concerns when required. Be visible and hands-on in the operation, particularly during busy periods and key guest service times. Assist with staff supervision, training, coaching and performance management. Assist with daily operational planning, including occupancy, guest movements, staffing requirements and special arrangements. Ensure that important guest information, operational requirements and special arrangements are communicated effectively. Assist with stock control, cost management and operational expenses. Monitor procedures and identify areas where efficiency, service or operational standards can be improved. Assist with staff rosters, daily planning and general administration. Maintain accurate records, reports, checklists and operational documentation. Ensure that administrative tasks and follow-ups are completed accurately and within required timeframes. Ensure that information is communicated clearly between teams and that outstanding matters are followed through to completion. Ensure that company policies, procedures, health and safety requirements and lodge standards are adhered to. Assist with the coordination and smooth running of functions, groups and special events. Act as Manager on Duty when required and make appropriate operational decisions in the Lodge Manager's absence. Assist with the implementation of operational improvements and ensure that agreed actions are followed through. Assist with reporting and provide regular feedback to the Lodge Manager on operational matters, staffing, guest feedback and outstanding issues.
