We're looking for a hardworking and reliable Junior Cabinet Maker / Production Woodworker to join our in-house carpentry workshop in Somerset West.
Our team manufactures high-quality shopfitting, custom cabinetry, furniture components, built-in cupboards, and bespoke joinery for commercial and residential projects.
We believe in learning the craft the right way - starting with solid wood construction, then progressing to plywood, veneered boards, melamine, and other modern panel materials. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Cutting and preparing solid timber, plywood, and melamine components from cutting lists
Operating workshop machinery, including panel saws, table saws, routers, drills, sanders, and other woodworking equipment
Manufacturing cupboard carcasses, drawer boxes, shelves, doors, shopfitting components, and furniture parts
Assembling cabinetry and joinery to a high standard
Fitting hardware such as hinges, drawer runners, handles, and fittings
Sanding and preparing timber for finishing
Assisting with oils, sealers, and other finishing processes
Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workshop
Loading, unloading, and handling timber and completed projects
Reporting quality issues, damaged materials, or machine problems promptly
Following workshop procedures and all health and safety requirements
At least 1 year of practical experience in cabinet making, carpentry, woodworking, or a similar workshop
Comfortable operating common woodworking machinery
Able to work accurately from cutting lists and measurements
Physically fit and capable of lifting timber and assembled units
Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn
Good attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
Legal right to work in South Africa
Experience with solid timber joinery
Experience manufacturing kitchens, built-in cupboards, or furniture
Experience with plywood or melamine cabinetry
Shopfitting or commercial interior experience
Valid Code B driver's licence
Your own basic hand tools
