Financial Accountant (Travel Industry) - with Tourplan experience (essential) ➡️ Permanent | Live-out | Market-related package (DOE) Kendrick Recruitment is recruiting a detail-driven, resilient Financial Accountant with Tourplan experience; for a leading luxury travel organisation based in Sandton. The successful candidate will join a high-performing Centre of Excellence team focused on best practice, continuous improvement, and strong financial controls. Role Overview This role supports the Touring finance function across multiple business streams, with responsibility for supplier payments, reconciliations, month-end close, VAT processes, internal controls, query resolution, and Tourplan transaction flows. The position requires a strong operator who can manage complexity, work to strict deadlines, and communicate confidently with both internal stakeholders and suppliers. Key Responsibilities Daily • Liaise with suppliers, reservations managers/consultants and internal teams to resolve queries • Review and release payments on banking platforms (including foreign suppliers where applicable) • Act as Finance liaison to Sales, DMC and Commercial teams on finance queries • Ensure compliance with internal policies including AML and FICA • Check and approve refunds and commissions in line with policy • Ongoing review of internal controls and risk areas Weekly • Prepare bank reconciliations and resolve reconciling items • Process and reconcile credit card transactions • Support team efficiency through ad hoc operational tasks • Follow up on shortfalls and clear suspense accounts where required Monthly • Execute Tourplan month-end close in line with deadlines and established processes • Revalue and review bank reconciliations and balance sheet recons • Prepare and review VAT calculations and submissions, including resolving SARS/eFiling queries • Prepare management accounts and deliver accurate forecasting and budgeting support • Support audit processes, intermediate reviews, and internal controls testing • Attend debtors reviews and provide feedback on risk areas • Manage revenue and cost of sales processing for Ground Handling, including fuel usage and credit card expense management • Process stock movement and investigate stock write-offs where applicable • Full function accounting through to trial balance for allocated areas • Manage expense processes and provisions for open claims within timelines Key Outputs / Core Accountability • Review and authorise supplier reconciliations and payments • Maintain accurate ledgers, reporting integrity, and policy compliance • Resolve complex queries and act as escalation point when needed • Ensure month-end deadlines are met without compromising accuracy • Identify and implement improvements to workflows and internal efficiencies • Monitor and manage high-risk agents and strengthen controls • Full responsibility for Tourplan transaction flows, reporting and control environment Requirements • Relevant Accounting qualification (Diploma or Degree) essential • 3–5 years relevant finance experience • High proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel • Tourplan proficiency essential • Strong analytical ability, high attention to detail, and excellent reconciliation capability • Strong communication and negotiation skills, able to manage stakeholders while maintaining relationships • Resilient, calm under pressure, and able to meet strict deadlines consistently To Apply Please submit your CV, contactable references, and a recent head and shoulders photograph ASAP. ?
