Associate Attorney and Conveyancer Sandton
Our client, a reputable law firm based in Sandton, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney and Conveyancer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong legal background, a proven ability to generate business, and a professional network within the industry. This is an office-based role.
Salary: Market related, depends on experience.
Minimum Requirements:
Relevant qualifications.
Minimum 5 years’ post-admission experience as an attorney.
Minimum 3 years’ experience as an admitted conveyancer.
Qualified notary
Demonstrated ability to bring in work, clients, or generate fees (must be able to show a professional network or track record of business origination).
Familiarity with Ghost Practice or similar legal practice management software is preferred but not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Divide time between general associate work (litigation, debt recovery, contracts, matrimonial/divorce) and conveyancing duties (focus is more on conveyancing, but exact ratio to be determined and flexible).
Conveyancing will include: document checking/prep, Bond registration client signings, oversight of conveyancing paralegals (including assisting directly with bank bond registration overflow), and ensuring regular reporting and updates from paralegals.
Advise clients on property transactions and related legal issues.
Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents and contracts.
Develop and maintain client relationships.
Contribute to business development by bringing in new clients and generating fees.
Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure efficient case management.
Stay updated on relevant legislation and best practices.
