Our client is an established Agri commodity trading company seeking an experienced Compliance & Risk Officer to strengthen its compliance, credit risk and regulatory framework.

This newly established role will have a particular focus on FICA Compliance, National Credit Act (NCA) compliance and Credit Risk Management, while also providing support to the Legal function where required.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA FOR CONSIDERATION

• Fluency in both Afrikaans and English --- spoken and written --- is essential, as the ability to confidently communicate, interpret and prepare business, legal and compliance documentation in both languages is required
  Minimum 3--5 years' experience in Compliance, Risk Management, Credit Control or FICA Compliance.

• Relevant qualification in Risk Management, Compliance, Credit Management, Law, Finance is essential. Degree/Diploma level preferred.

• Practical FICA and National Credit Act experience is non-negotiable.

• Previous experience within a corporate, commercial, credit, financial services or legal environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Managing the organisation's FICA compliance programme and ensuring ongoing compliance with the National Credit Act.

• Conducting Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes.

• Monitoring regulatory, credit and operational compliance, identifying risks and recommending corrective action.

• Conducting compliance monitoring and internal reviews, as well as supporting audits and regulatory inspections.

• Developing and maintaining compliance registers, policies, procedures and supporting documentation.

• Supporting credit risk assessments, credit approval processes and the Credit Committee.

• Preparing compliance, credit risk and regulatory reports for management.

• Providing guidance and training to employees on compliance requirements.

• Supporting the Legal function with documentation, administration and ad hoc compliance projects.
