We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager to take a major greenfield mining and mineral-processing project from engineering and procurement through to construction, installation, commissioning and handover.
Working with an established South African engineering and project house, you’ll initially be based in Randburg, Johannesburg, where you’ll take ownership of the upfront engineering coordination, project planning, procurement and preparation for execution. As the project moves into construction, installation and commissioning, the role will transition to Ethiopia on a rotational basis.
This is a substantial, multidisciplinary project covering the development of a new mineral-processing facility from comminution through to final bullion production, incorporating civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation disciplines.
You’ll take overall responsibility for successful project delivery, including:
Manage the project across the full lifecycle from engineering and procurement through construction, installation, commissioning and handover.
Develop and manage the overall project programme, milestones, deliverables and critical path.
Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities across mechanical, civil, electrical and instrumentation disciplines.
Manage procurement activities and ensure equipment, materials and services are delivered in line with the project programme.
Manage project budgets, cost control, forecasting and commercial performance.
Oversee contractual requirements, project terms, contractors and supplier commitments.
Plan and coordinate the resources required throughout each phase of the project.
Identify and resolve engineering, procurement, construction and site-related issues that could affect project delivery.
Manage the transition from the South African engineering/project phase into site execution in Ethiopia.
Drive construction, installation and commissioning activities through to successful project completion and handover.
Maintain strong control of scope, schedule, cost, quality and project risk throughout.
Ultimately ensure the project is delivered safely, on time and within budget.
This is a contract position, expected to run for approximately 18–24 months, aligned to the duration of the project.
Remuneration will be negotiated based on the successful candidate’s qualifications, project experience and track record.
During the Ethiopia site phase, accommodation, in-country transport and appropriate security arrangements will be provided.
The opportunity offers exposure to a substantial international greenfield project and the chance to take genuine end-to-end responsibility for the delivery of a new mineral-processing facility.
