Roofing Supervisor – Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth)

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and hands-on Roofing Supervisor to oversee commercial and industrial roofing projects in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising roofing teams, coordinating daily site activities, ensuring quality workmanship and maintaining strict health and safety standards.

This is a project-based appointment for the duration of the roofing works at two industrial sites. The successful candidate may be required to work between sites depending on operational requirements and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision & Coordination

• Supervise and coordinate daily roofing activities and labour teams across project sites.
  

• Allocate tasks, monitor productivity and ensure work progresses according to project schedules.
  

• Manage labour-only teams and ensure effective utilisation of available resources.
  

• Maintain site discipline, housekeeping and efficient workflow.
  

• Coordinate activities with site management, subcontractors and other contractors.
  

Roofing Installation & Quality Control

• Oversee the installation, repair and replacement of commercial and industrial roofing systems.
  

• Ensure roofing works comply with approved drawings, specifications and manufacturer requirements.
  

• Supervise the installation of roof sheeting, flashings, waterproofing, insulation, gutters and related components.
  

• Ensure roof penetrations, joints and interfaces are correctly installed and weatherproofed.
  

• Inspect materials and completed work to identify defects or poor workmanship.
  

• Ensure defects are rectified promptly and quality standards are consistently maintained.
  

Health & Safety Compliance

• Enforce site health and safety procedures and safe working practices.
  

• Ensure compliance with working-at-heights regulations and fall-protection requirements.
  

• Monitor the correct use of PPE, scaffolding, ladders, lifelines and access equipment.
  

• Identify and report unsafe conditions, incidents and potential hazards.
  

• Stop unsafe work when necessary and escalate safety concerns to site management.
  

• Maintain a safe working environment for employees and other contractors.
  

Project Monitoring & Reporting

• Assist with planning, scheduling and sequencing roofing activities.
  

• Monitor daily progress and ensure work remains on schedule.
  

• Maintain accurate records of labour attendance, work completed and site activities.
  

• Identify and report project delays, material shortages and operational challenges.
  

• Provide daily progress updates, photographs and relevant site reports.
  

• Escalate issues affecting project timelines, quality, safety or costs.
  

Requirements

Requirements

• Proven supervisory experience in commercial or industrial roofing projects.
  

• Strong practical knowledge of roofing installations, repairs and waterproofing.
  

• Experience supervising and managing roofing labour teams.
  

• Ability to read and interpret roofing drawings and technical specifications.
  

• Sound knowledge of working-at-heights safety procedures and fall-protection requirements.
  

• Strong understanding of construction site health and safety standards.
  

• Ability to identify workmanship defects and ensure quality installations.
  

• Good leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  

• Ability to coordinate multiple roofing activities and meet project deadlines.
  

• Willingness to work between project sites in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).
