Our client, a well-established organisation operating within the manufacturing industry, is seeking to employ an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join their Maintenance team based in Markman, Port Elizabeth.

Requirements

• Qualified Fitter
• Minimum 5 years post qualification experience
• Experience in a maintenance environment
• Experience in steel fabrication from drawings
• Arc welding experience
• Hydraulic experience (read and interpret drawings)
• Injection Moulding experience advantageous
• Own transport advantageous

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

Maintenance and Repairs

• Carry out maintenance functions to ensure that the machines and factory remain well looked after
• Maintenance checks on chillers, cooling towers and compressor
• Repairs, maintenance alterations when required or requested
• Carry out all items timeously
• Continuously try to seek out methods to help preventative maintenance be a solution to root causes of breakdowns
• Carry out standby
• Work shifts
• Carry out duties and any adhoc duties as and when required

Fabrication and Installations

• Welding and fabrication of new equipment and machinery
• Steel fabrication work
• PVC piping installations

Documentation and Compliance

• Where necessary live documents are to be kept at certain machines
• Documented weekly checklists to be filled in
• Follow the health and safety procedures as stipulated by the company
• Comply with PPE requirements
• Adhere to uniform requirements as stipulated by the company
• Report any detected health and safety concerns immediately
• Comply with all company policies and procedures

Housekeeping and Factory Upkeep

• General upkeep of the grounds and structure
• Factory is permanently clean and tidy
• Clear evidence of good house-keeping practices are to be visible upon entering the maintenance department, with all like type items stored in a traceable and organised manner
• Factory running efficiently and effectively as a result of a highly maintained factory

Teamwork and Communication

• Maintain a good relationship with colleagues and management and an attitude of continuous improvement
• Work in collaboration with other members of staff to allow for smooth planning of both department requirements and production plans
