Job Description The Junior Guide supports the guiding and guest experience team in delivering exceptional safari experiences. This role is ideal for a passionate individual at the start of their guiding career who is eager to grow, learn, and contribute to the overall success of lodge operations. The Junior Guide assists with game drives, guest activities, lodge operations, and conservation awareness while maintaining the highest standards of safety, service, and professionalism. Key Responsibilities Assist senior guides in conducting game drives, bush walks, and safari activities Host guests professionally and ensure a memorable and safe wilderness experience Deliver basic interpretive information on wildlife, ecology, and conservation Maintain guiding equipment, vehicles, and guest areas in excellent condition Ensure compliance with safety procedures and reserve regulations Assist with vehicle checks, radio communication, and trip preparation Support conservation initiatives and report wildlife sightings and concerns Contribute positively to team morale and lodge culture Participate in ongoing training and development programs Represent the lodge in a professional, friendly, and knowledgeable manner at all times Job Specification Qualifications & Certifications FGASA Level 1 (minimum requirement) Valid PDP / PrDP First Aid certification Rifle competency (preferred) Valid driver’s licence Valid medical certificate (advantageous) Experience Entry-level guiding experience or completion of a recognised guiding training programme Practical bush experience is highly advantageous Previous hospitality exposure beneficial Skills & Competencies Passion for wildlife, conservation, and guiding Strong communication and guest engagement skills Willingness to learn and take direction Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills Calm; responsible, and safety-focused approach Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all conditions Professional presentation and conduct Personal Attributes Enthusiastic; motivated, and reliable Honest and ethical work approach Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules and environments Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to personal development
