Hospitality and Outdoor- New Vacancy- General Manager Plettenberg Bay- Nature Estate (8 Suites) This is an intimate, design-led luxury estate originally conceived as a private lodge for discerning international guests. Following a substantial interior refurbishment led by British interior architects, the property now operates at an international standard while retaining a warm, personal and unpretentious atmosphere. We are seeking an exceptional General Manager to act as the daily custodian of the estate. This is a hands-on, highly visible role suited to a natural host who understands that true luxury is felt rather than announced. You will lead the property in the manner of a maître de maison ; ensuring each guest journey is seamless, composed and quietly exceptional. You will protect the aesthetic integrity of the estate, set the cultural tone for the team, and represent the owners on site with sound judgement and discretion. This is not a corporate hotel management role. It is a position built on trust, taste and leadership. Requirements · A business degree, hotel or hospitality management qualification (highly Beneficial) · Have a minimum of 5 years Proven experience as a General Manager or senior leader within a high-end boutique hotel, lodge or private estate · Strong hosting instinct with an intuitive understanding of luxury, experience-led service · Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with high emotional intelligence · Calm, composed and highly detail-oriented, particularly under pressure · Strong aesthetic sensitivity and respect for design and presentation · Financially literate with experience managing budgets and costs in a small-scale operation · Hands-on leadership style with the ability to balance strategic oversight and daily involvement · Discreet, trustworthy and able to represent ownership with professionalism and judgement · Fluent in English; additional languages advantageous Responsibilities · Act as the on-site leader and primary host, personally welcoming guests and overseeing the full guest journey from pre-arrival to departure · Ensure a seamless, calm and consistently high-end guest experience, anticipating needs and resolving issues with discretion and empathy · Lead, inspire and manage a small, close-knit team across front of house, housekeeping, kitchen and maintenance · Set service and behavioural standards through daily presence and example · Recruit, train and mentor team members, fostering a culture of professionalism, warmth and pride · Oversee day-to-day lodge operations, including scheduling, service delivery and general estate management · Protect and maintain the aesthetic and design standards across all guest and operational areas · Work closely with housekeeping and maintenance to preserve the long-term quality of the property · Manage budgets, cost controls and supplier relationships responsibly · Monitor occupancy, rates and guest satisfaction in collaboration with reservations and marketing · Act as the owners’ trusted on-site representative, providing clear operational reporting and sound decision-making Package on offer · R 70 000 pm (based on experience) · Accommodation can be provided Starting Date: January/February 2026
