We are currently seeking an experienced and inspiring General Manager for a well-established luxury boutique hotel located in Plettenberg Bay. This beautiful coastal property forms part of a respected hospitality collection and is known for its personalised guest experience, exceptional service standards, and warm, intimate atmosphere. Package • Salary: R50,000 – R60,000 gross per month (dependent on experience) • Live-out position The Role The General Manager will oversee all aspects of the hotel’s daily operation, ensuring seamless service delivery, strong financial performance, and an exceptional guest experience across every department. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance operational excellence with genuine hospitality, while motivating and developing a close-knit team. Key Responsibilities • Oversee the full day-to-day operation of the hotel and spa • Lead and support all departments to ensure exceptional service standards are consistently maintained • Manage financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cost control • Oversee recruitment, staff development, training, and performance management • Foster a positive, professional, and motivated team culture • Build and maintain strong relationships with guests, travel partners, suppliers, and the local community • Drive continuous improvement across all guest touchpoints and operational processes • Ensure the maintenance and care of hotel assets and operational equipment • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sustainability standards • Uphold and embody the company’s culture, values, and service philosophy Requirements • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior management or General Manager role within luxury boutique hospitality • Relevant hospitality or tourism qualification • Strong financial and commercial understanding • Proven leadership ability with experience managing and developing teams • Sound understanding of HR practices and labour legislation • Experience hosting VIP guests, media, and travel industry partners • Strong operational and administrative skills • Understanding of sustainability and environmentally conscious hospitality practices • Computer literate with strong reporting and organisational abilities • Valid PrDP advantageous • Stable employment history with excellent, contactable references The Ideal Candidate • Warm, approachable, and confident in a guest-facing environment • Passionate about hospitality and people development • Naturally collaborative and empowering in leadership style • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving ability • Calm under pressure with strong decision-making skills • Professional, adaptable, and driven by high standards • Values-led with a genuine commitment to team culture and guest satisfaction What’s on Offer • Opportunity to lead a respected luxury boutique property in Plettenberg Bay • Collaborative and people-focused working environment • Long-term growth opportunity within an established hospitality group • Exposure to a high-end guest-focused operation in one of South Africa’s most sought-after coastal destinations
