Job Summary
Stellenpak, a well-established fruit packing and cooling enterprise in Paarl, serving a niche market segment in the fruit industry, is looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join the team.
The incumbent will manage a small maintenance team, ensure that packhouse and cold store machinery and equipment is always in an excellent working condition and that breakdowns are kept to a minimum. Maintenance of buildings and the improvement and upgrading of facilities and equipment is part of the job.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and schedule maintenance
- Manage the maintenance team:
- Assign tasks
- Ensure tasks are completed timeously and correctly
- Performance evaluation of staff
- Disciplinary action when necessary
- Schedule and approve leave
- Communicate effectively with all team members
- Ensure all machinery is always operating optimally and efficiently
- Minimise downtime due to mechanical, electrical or electronic problems
- Determine when it is necessary involve external experts
- Oversee and manage workshop equipment, tools, spare parts and stock items
- Ensure premises are BRC (food safety) compliant and conduct regular inspections
- Identify, plan and implement improvements to machinery, equipment and premises
- Liaise with other department, external contractors and suppliers
Requirements:
- Qualified millwright or fitter and turner
- At least 5 years’ experience in packhouse maintenance, repairs, as well as technical and mechanical work
- Experience in an ammonia cold store environment will be beneficial
- Ability to manage a small team of artisans and factotums
- Results-oriented and goal driven
