Main Purpose of the Job:
To provide support to a learner with unique needs over the short term, guiding him academically and emotionally throughout the school day. A central focus is on encouraging and establishing independence—helping him build confidence, autonomy, and practical skills that foster growth both inside and outside the classroom. Collaboration and communication with his parents, teachers, and the wider multidisciplinary team are essential.

Key Responsibilities:
• Attend school with him to provide scaffolding and support across all subjects.
• Act as a communication bridge between teachers, parents, and the multidisciplinary team to align on goals and therapy recommendations.
• Assist with breaking down tasks, chunking information, and implementing movement/sensory breaks when needed.
• Encourage independence and confidence in daily classroom routines and academic subjects.
• Provide academic support, using flexible, child-led approaches and visual aids.
• Scaffold executive functioning skills: help with daily classroom routines and transitioning between activities.
• Use low-arousal techniques to minimise anxiety: recognise early signs of overwhelm and implement calming strategies (quiet breaks, sensory toys).
• Build trusting, supportive relationships with the child: practise active listening, validate emotions, and model positive self-regulation.
• Observe and respond to sensory needs: adjust lighting, noise levels, and activity pace to create a comfortable environment.
• Communicate consistently with parents and the multidisciplinary team regarding progress, challenges, and any emerging concerns.
