Job Summary
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee a large vehicle fleet and central workshop operation supporting multiple hospitality properties across East Africa. This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya. This role is ideal for a hands-on fleet professional with strong mechanical knowledge, workshop management experience and a proven ability to maintain operational efficiency across a diverse fleet. The successful candidate will be responsible for fleet performance, preventative maintenance, compliance, budgeting and the leadership of workshop teams. Key Responsibilities • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the central workshop • Lead, mentor and develop workshop staff and property-based mechanics • Implement and maintain workshop procedures and maintenance standards • Ensure accurate vehicle diagnostics and minimise fleet downtime • Manage workshop inventory, parts procurement and supplier relationships • Monitor workshop budgets, expenditure and cost-saving initiatives • Oversee the maintenance, allocation and deployment of the vehicle fleet • Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules • Maintain fleet records, licensing, insurance and compliance documentation • Monitor fuel consumption, mileage and fleet operating costs • Investigate vehicle incidents, accidents and breakdowns • Ensure all vehicles meet roadworthiness and regulatory requirements • Provide recommendations on fleet replacement, procurement and asset management • Maintain health, safety and workshop housekeeping standards Requirements • Proven experience in Fleet Management and Workshop Operations • Strong technical and mechanical knowledge of vehicle maintenance • Previous leadership experience managing workshop teams and mechanics • Excellent organisational, planning and problem-solving abilities • Experience with budgeting, reporting and cost control • Strong understanding of vehicle compliance, licensing and roadworthiness requirements • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple priorities • Relevant Degree, Diploma or Technical Qualification preferred • High attention to detail and strong administrative skills
