Job Summary
??? ??????????? ??????????? is partnering with a private luxury reserve in the Northern Cape to recruit an experienced and hands-on ???? ?? ???????????. This position suits a technically strong maintenance leader who can balance guest-facing infrastructure standards with the realities of running operations in a remote, off-grid wilderness setting. The successful candidate will take ownership of the reserve’s buildings, utilities, fleet, and technical systems. Reporting to the General Manager, the role covers preventative and reactive maintenance across guest lodges, staff accommodation, and communal facilities, along with civil works and infrastructure upgrades carried out in line with eco-sensitive building practices. Core responsibilities include managing solar power, generators, and battery systems; water supply, purification, and waste management; HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and IT infrastructure; and the servicing of the reserve’s vehicle fleet and equipment. The Head of Maintenance will lead and develop a team, manage the annual maintenance budget and procurement, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, while supporting the reserve’s broader sustainability and conservation goals. The role also plays a key part in reducing the reserve’s ecological footprint, optimising energy and water efficiency, and upholding green building practices across all operations. Requirements • Relevant qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or a related field • Minimum of 7 years’ senior experience in an engineering or maintenance role, within hospitality or another relevant industry • Solid understanding of sustainable technologies, including solar energy, water filtration, waste management, and off-grid utilities • Experience with facilities management systems and project planning tools • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to live on-site in a remote environment • Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills • Flexible, hands-on, and resilient, with availability for emergencies outside standard hours • Familiarity with conservation-driven operational principles and a commitment to sustainable resource use • Comfortable living and working in a remote wilderness setting, with strong problem-solving ability under pressure Salary – On application ➡️ PLEASE NOTE – Although we appreciate all applications received, we will only reply to those candidates who have the required background and experience.
