Clear criminal record; Excellent employment track record – references will be verified; Good English fluency & literacy; Minimum 2 – 3 years of experience as a Wine Steward/Sommelier in a luxury hotel or fine dining establishment; Extensive knowledge of local and international wines, vineyards, and wine production techniques; A sommelier certification or wine-related qualification is preferred; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with guests and deliver high-end service; Strong ability to upsell and recommend wines that align with guests’ tastes and preferences; High level of precision in wine service and cellar management, with excellent organisational skills ??? ???????????????? Present and serve wines to guests professionally, ensuring an impeccable standard of service. Advise guests on wine selections, providing recommendations based on their preferences, the menu, and wine pairing principles. Assist in developing and maintaining an extensive, world-class wine list in collaboration with the Food & Beverage Manager. Update the wine list regularly based on stock availability and seasonal trends. Monitor the property wine cellar, ensuring proper storage, stock rotation, and optimal wine conditions (temperature, humidity, etc). Maximise wine sales through active promotion, upselling, and cross-selling, ensuring guest satisfaction. Conduct wine education and tasting sessions for staff to enhance their knowledge and service delivery, ensuring they are equipped to assist guests with wine queries. Monitor and manage wine inventory, perform monthly stock takes, and assist in re-ordering wine supplies, ensuring sufficient stock levels and minimising wastage. Engage with guests to create memorable dining experiences, explain wine tasting notes, origins, and vintages, and answer any queries regarding the wine selection. Ensure that all wines are served in accordance with the company’s high standards and comply with legal requirements (e.g. licensing laws, health and safety). ???????????? / ??????? / ???? ????? Basic monthly remuneration of approx. R15 – R20, 000.00 NEG. PLUS - Accommodation (partly/basically furnished) & own bathroom; 2 meals per day from the staff canteen; Gratuities - pooled & / direct; Provident fund - 100% coverage by the company; Medical insurance - 100% coverage by the company; Uniform and laundry thereof; Complimentary staff shuttle service is provided for shift transport, with pick-up before each shift and drop-off after each shift for staff living within approximately 20 km of the property in surrounding local communities.
