Take ownership of a complex fixed asset portfolio while strengthening the quality, control and insight behind financial reporting. This is a senior finance opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional who can combine IFRS expertise with commercial judgement, operational understanding and effective people leadership.
The Finance Manager: Fixed Assets and Reporting will provide strategic and operational leadership across fixed asset accounting and financial reporting. The role is responsible for the integrity of the fixed asset register, capital expenditure accounting, statutory and management reporting, financial controls, audit readiness and compliance. It will also provide meaningful financial insight to support investment decisions, budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning.
The successful candidate will operate in a large, operationally complex organisation with significant interaction across Finance, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Transport, Warehousing and other business functions. The environment requires a finance leader who is comfortable balancing rigorous governance with practical operational requirements and who can influence senior stakeholders across the business.
What You'll Do
Lead and govern the fixed asset accounting function in accordance with IFRS and company policies.
Ensure accurate accounting for asset capitalisation, depreciation, impairment, revaluation and disposals.
Maintain the integrity and completeness of the fixed asset register.
Oversee physical asset verification exercises and periodic reconciliations.
Partner with Operations, Procurement and Project teams to ensure appropriate capital expenditure treatment.
Monitor capital expenditure against approved budgets and investigate variances.
Manage monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting deliverables.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of fixed asset balances and disclosures.
Support statutory reporting and annual financial statement preparation.
Coordinate financial reporting inputs into budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning.
Produce management reporting and insights relating to capital investments and asset performance.
Serve as the primary finance contact for internal and external audits relating to fixed assets.
Strengthen financial controls, address audit findings and manage corrective actions.
Lead, coach and develop team members while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
What You Bring
CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
5 to 8 years' post-qualification experience in financial reporting and/or fixed asset management.
Experience managing complex fixed asset portfolios within a large corporate environment.
Proven statutory reporting and audit management experience.
Strong knowledge of IFRS, particularly IAS 16 and related accounting standards.
Sound understanding of financial controls, governance, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
Demonstrated people management experience.
Experience engaging senior stakeholders across multiple business functions.
SAP and SAP BW knowledge.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Power BI capability.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, commercial and financial acumen.
Exposure to logistics, supply chain, manufacturing or operational finance environments would be advantageous.
A relevant postgraduate qualification in Finance or Accounting would be advantageous.
