The Quality Manager will lead the quality assurance initiatives and uphold the company's reputation for excellence through ensuring consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good manufacturing practice systems, validating processes & providing accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement quality objectives, systems, standards and processes aligned with business strategy and customer/contract requirements.
Act as the process owner for all quality processes and custodian of quality standards.
Manage the quality function budget and associated requirements.
Lead and manage internal, external and supplier quality audits.
Ensure effective quality control and management of subcontracted suppliers.
Ensure the quality team consistently understands and meets customer requirements and expectations.
Act as the Management Representative for relevant qualification/certification bodies, e.g. SACAA.
Approve quality specifications for bids and contracts and participate in contract review meetings.
Lead, coach and develop the quality team, ensuring appropriate training and achievement of operational metrics.
Drive manufacturing process optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Coordinate projects to ensure delivery on time, within scope and to required quality standards.
Support innovation and develop practical business solutions while maintaining operational effectiveness.
Ensure priorities and outputs are delivered timeously and to the required quality standards.
Requirements:
Quality Management qualification at NQF Level 6 or Technical Diploma.
Minimum 8 years’ experience in Quality Management, Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
Strong understanding of quality principles, systems, methodologies, tools and standards, particularly within the Defence sector.
Knowledge of EN9100 / ISO 9000 standards.
Experience within a manufacturing environment.
Strong quality auditing and certification experience.
Project management experience, ideally relating to engineering development, production and product support.
This is a senior Quality Management leadership role in a defence/manufacturing environment, responsible for the entire quality function, including quality systems, audits, certification, suppliers, customer/contract requirements, continuous improvement, project quality and team leadership.
Based in Midrand.
