The General Manager will hold full accountability for all lodge operations — across accommodation, food and beverage, guiding, conservation interfaces, and maintenance — while simultaneously driving the property’s commercial performance through disciplined budget management, occupancy optimisation, revenue growth, and regular reporting against key financial metrics. This is a highly visible, relationship-driven leadership role: the successful candidate will be personally present throughout the guest journey, foster a culture of excellence and empowerment within the team, champion the lodge’s sustainability and community commitments, and serve as the primary interface with conservation authorities, concession partners, and the group’s support office. ???????????? · Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Tourism Management, or a related field. · A minimum of 10–15 years in hospitality, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role at a luxury safari lodge, remote property, or equivalent luxury hospitality environment. · A strong track record in financial management — budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and revenue optimisation — with sound knowledge of occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and related commercial metrics. · Demonstrated ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams in a remote operational setting, with a genuine focus on performance management, succession planning, and internal talent development. · An authentic, guest-centric mindset — the ability to create meaningful, personalised experiences for discerning travellers and to maintain a warm, visible presence throughout the guest journey. · Experience partnering with sales and marketing teams to drive occupancy and strengthen trade relationships, including hosted site inspections, agent familiarisation trips, and media visits. · A thorough understanding of the Southern African luxury tourism and safari market, including competitor positioning and product differentiation. · Solid knowledge of lodge management systems, health and safety legislation, labour law compliance, and environmental regulatory requirements. · Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with conservation authorities, concession partners, local communities, and other key external stakeholders. · Calm, resilient, and solutions-focused under pressure, with high emotional intelligence and the interpersonal capability to inspire both guests and team members. · Contactable references essential. ?????? – on application with live in benefits ? ?????? ???? – Although we appreciate all applications received, we will only reply to those candidates who have the background and experience required.
