Job Summary
Job Description The Banqueting Waiter is responsible for delivering exceptional service during functions, events, conferences, and banquets. This role includes setting up venues, serving food and beverages, maintaining high service standards, and ensuring guests have a seamless and enjoyable experience. The Banqueting Waiter works closely with the Banqueting Supervisor and event team to ensure that all event requirements are met and executed according to the client’s expectations and the hotel’s standards. Key Responsibilities Set up banquet rooms according to event orders (tables, chairs, linen, décor, cutlery, glassware). Greet guests and provide professional, attentive service throughout the event. Serve food and beverages in a timely and efficient manner. Clear tables, reset them when necessary, and maintain cleanliness of the banquet area. Assist with buffet setups, replenishing food stations, and monitoring presentation. Follow service standards and sequence of service at all times. Communicate any guest needs or issues to the Banqueting Supervisor promptly. Assist in the breakdown and clean-up of banquet rooms after events. Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and company policies. Work closely with the kitchen and events team to ensure smooth event execution. Qualifications & Experience Grade 12 / Matric (or equivalent) required. Previous experience as a Waiter or Banqueting Waiter in a hotel or events environment preferred. Knowledge of food and beverage service standards. Basic knowledge of hygiene and safety procedures. Skills & Competencies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong customer service focus with a professional and friendly attitude. Ability to work under pressure and handle large events. Good teamwork and collaboration skills. Attention to detail and strong organisational abilities. Ability to stand for long periods and carry trays, equipment, or plates comfortably. Personal Attributes Well-groomed and presentable. Punctual; reliable, and hardworking. Flexible to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and late hours as required. Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
