A Safari Lodge is seeking a dynamic Assistant Lodge Manager for their 5-star Lodge in the Manyoni Private Game Reserve property, emphasizing a hands-on, team-oriented approach. Candidates must be skilled multi-taskers capable of managing diverse, fast-paced operations while delivering exceptional, personalized guest experiences.
We are seeking a true "all-rounder"—someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. You must be a natural team player who can multi-task across departments while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and guest service.
Key Responsibilities & General Tasks
1. Guest Experience & High-End Hosting
The Full Guest Journey: Manage the entire guest lifecycle, including
personalized welcomes, room orientations, and efficient check-outs.
Concierge & Special Requests: Coordinate celebrations like bush breakfast and
private dinners, and handle complex guest dietaries or travel logistics.
Resolution Management: Address and resolve guest feedback or operational
issues with speed and professional discretion.
2. Operational Oversight & Departmental Coordination
Interdepartmental Hub: Act as the link between the Kitchen, Housekeeping,
Maintenance, and Guiding teams to ensure everyone is aligned on daily guest
requirements.
Quality Control: Conduct daily inspections of the nine luxury suites and public
areas to ensure the lodge’s 5 star standards are consistently met.
Duty Management: Oversee daily service flows, particularly during peak times.
3. Team Leadership & Development
Staff Mentorship: Supervise a multidisciplinary team, providing hands-on
training, shift planning, and ongoing performance coaching.
Roster Management: Manage staff duty rosters to ensure effective coverage.
4. Administration & Financial Control
Stock & Procurement: Oversee inventory for Food & Beverage, housekeeping
supplies, and gift shop items.
Financial Reporting: Support basic financial discipline through petty cash
control, daily guest invoicing.
5. Health, Safety & Sustainability
Safety Protocols: Enforce health and safety procedures and manage emergency
situations, including coordination with reserve paramedics if needed.
Eco-Initiatives: Support the lodge’s commitment to conservation by monitoring
sustainable practices and waste management.
Requirements
Key Qualifications & Requirements
Driver’s Licence: A valid South African Code B driver’s licence is mandatory.
Experience: 1-2 years of senior supervisory or management experience in a 5-
star luxury lodge environment.
Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and Property Management Systems (e.g.,
Nightsbridge).
Attributes: Exceptional communication skills, a well-groomed professional
appearance, and the ability to thrive in a remote wilderness setting.
Language: Fluency in English is required; Zulu speaking ability is a significant
advantage.

Basic Salary: Typically ranges from R14,000 to R18,000 per month (depending on experience and qualifications).
Accommodation: Full live-in position with a private home provided on-site.
Meals: meals provided while on duty.

Transport: Transport to and from the staff village is included.
Work Cycle: A remote-friendly rotation, typically 1 week off per month with the option of staying on site in their home while on time off.
