Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on and operationally focused HR Generalist to support workforce operations on a large-scale renewable energy project site. The role involves delivering end-to-end HR support in a fast-paced site environment, ensuring compliance with labour legislation, supporting workforce planning and reporting, and assisting with employee relations and payroll processes. The HR Generalist will support day-to-day site HR activities while working closely with Site Management, contractors, and Head Office teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly HR reports
- Track headcount, absenteeism, overtime, and Employment Equity statistics
- Maintain accurate HR records, dashboards, and reporting templates
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes
- Assist with inductions, onboarding documentation, and access control procedures
- Support local labour hiring initiatives and workforce compliance requirements
- Manage disciplinary processes, grievances, and employee relations matters
- Support compliance with labour legislation and company policies
- Advise site teams and contractors on HR and IR-related matters
- Coordinate training records and compliance reporting activities
- Assist with skills development and mandatory training coordination
- Manage time and attendance records for site personnel
- Verify payroll inputs including timesheets, overtime, and allowances
- Support alignment between contractor workforce records and payroll submissions
- Build strong working relationships with employees, contractors, and site leadership
- Assist with resolving workforce-related issues in a practical and professional manner
- Maintain audit-ready HR documentation and filing systems
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources or related field
- 3–5 years HR Generalist experience within construction, mining, energy, industrial, or site-based environments advantageous
- Strong understanding of South African labour legislation including LRA, BCEA, and Employment Equity
- Strong HR reporting and analytics capability
- Experience handling employee relations and disciplinary processes
- Computer literate with strong Microsoft Excel skills
