About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading organisation within the construction and mining equipment industry, is looking for an experienced Earthmoving Artisan to join their Mining Field Service team.

The successful candidate will provide OEM-level field service support, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on heavy earthmoving equipment operating on customer mining sites. This role is ideal for a qualified artisan with strong fault-finding abilities who enjoys working in challenging field environments while ensuring maximum machine availability and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)

• Qualified Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic (Trade Test)

• Valid driver's license (Code 08 or higher)

• Medically fit to work on mine sites (or ability to obtain medical clearance)

• Minimum 5 years' post-trade experience maintaining heavy earthmoving equipment

• At least 3 years' experience within mining, OEM field service or contract mining environments

• Strong diesel engine, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical diagnostic experience

• Computer literacy for service reports, job cards and maintenance documentation

• Willingness to travel and work on customer mine sites

Advantageous

Experience working on:

• Excavators

• Wheel Loaders

• Dozers

• Motor Graders

• Articulated or Rigid Dump Trucks

Experience with leading OEM equipment brands will be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs on earthmoving and mining equipment

• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults

• Respond to breakdowns and perform emergency field repairs to minimise equipment downtime

• Complete component replacements, overhauls and major services

• Conduct machine inspections and preventative maintenance checks

• Record accurate service reports, inspection findings and maintenance history

• Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions

• Assist with planning maintenance activities and spare parts requirements

• Ensure work is completed according to OEM standards and site specifications

• Maintain high standards of workmanship, housekeeping and safety

• Build strong relationships with customers and site personnel

• Provide technical support and guidance to operators, assistants and apprentices

• Maintain service vehicles, tooling and company equipment

• Ensure compliance with all mining legislation, company procedures and health and safety requirements
