Job Summary
Our client, a well-established group operating across multiple industries, is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Network Administrator join their team based in City Deep, Johannesburg.
The Senior Network Administrator is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, security, and performance of the organisation’s network infrastructure. The role ensures stable connectivity, optimal system performance, and provides expert-level support for complex technical issues.
Requirements:
- Matric
- A+ and N+ Certification
- Microsoft Certification / Engineer
- MCITP
- Network Security+
- Diploma in IT Systems Administration (NQF Level 4/5 advantageous)
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in IT administration and networking
- Hands-on experience in enterprise network environments
- TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing protocols
- Firewalls, switches, wireless infrastructure
- Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments
- Windows Server (2019/2022) and Windows 10/11
- Hyper-V virtualization
- VPNs (site-to-site and client)
- Mikrotik RouterOS
- Network monitoring tools
- VOIP systems
- Cloud technologies (Azure, Exchange Online)
Responsibilities:
Network Operations and Connectivity
- Manage LAN, WAN, VPN, VLAN, Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity
- Monitor network performance and resolve complex issues
- Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and access points
- Maintain documentation of network configurations and procedures
- Ensure connectivity between on-premise and cloud environments
- Manage network emergencies and failover testing
- Liaise with service providers and vendors
- Provide mentorship to junior IT staff
Network Security
- Implement and maintain firewalls and access control policies
- Support vulnerability management and patching
- Ensure secure remote access for users
- Identify and mitigate security risks proactively
Installations, Upgrades and Maintenance
- Plan and execute network upgrades and migrations
- Maintain firmware updates and configuration standards
- Manage server environments and user access controls
- Ensure successful backups and disaster recovery processes
- Monitor and optimise system performance (CPU, RAM, storage)
IT Projects
- Assist with group-wide IT projects and system improvements
