A reputable government institution is seeking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Company Secretary / Company Secretary to join its Corporate Governance team.
Minimum Requirements
LLB degree (essential)
Admitted Attorney or Advocate
Registration with CGISA (Chartered Governance Institute of Southern Africa) will be a distinct advantage
Minimum 8 years’ experience as an Assistant Company Secretary or Company Secretary
At least 5 years’ experience at a supervisory level
Key Competencies & Experience
Extensive experience in contract drafting and review
Sound knowledge and practical application of:
PFMA (Public Finance Management Act)
MFMA (Municipal Finance Management Act)
Legal risk assessments and compliance advisory
Procurement and supply chain governance matters
Conducting legal and governance research
Strong understanding of corporate governance frameworks within the public sector
Excellent report writing and stakeholder engagement skills
Provide strategic governance and company secretariat support to the Board and Committees
Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and governance standards
Draft, review, and vet contracts and legal documentation
Advise on legal risk, procurement, and regulatory compliance matters
Supervise and guide governance support staff
Conduct research to support policy and governance decision-making
High level of integrity and professionalism
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadline
