We are looking for a Room Checker who is passionate about maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation and guest service. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring guest rooms and public areas are inspected, maintained and ready for occupancy. Key Responsibilities Inspect guest rooms and public areas to ensure they meet the hotel’s cleanliness, presentation and maintenance standards. Inspect and approve rooms for check-in and ensure room statuses are accurately updated on the hotel’s management system. Monitor housekeeping standards and the performance of Room Attendants, providing guidance where required. Attend to guest queries and complaints relating to housekeeping and resolve these professionally, escalating matters to management when necessary. Ensure linen, guest amenities and housekeeping supplies are properly controlled and used efficiently, while minimising waste. Ensure linen rooms, storerooms and other housekeeping areas are clean, organised and adequately stocked. Identify and report maintenance issues promptly to the relevant department. Manage and record Lost & Found items in accordance with hotel procedures. Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety and hygiene, including the correct handling and use of cleaning chemicals. Assist the Housekeeping team in maintaining a consistently high standard of guest rooms and public areas. Minimum Requirements Matric Certificate. 1–2 years’ experience in a Room Checker, Housekeeping Supervisor or similar role within a hotel environment. A Housekeeping or Hospitality qualification/course will be advantageous. Computer literate, with experience using a hotel property management system advantageous. Proven track record of maintaining high housekeeping and cleanliness standards. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to excellence. Ability to remain calm, professional and solution-focused under pressure. Self-motivated with the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
