Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a passionate and hardworking Pastry Commis Chef to join a prestigious Luxury Restaurant based in Johannesburg. This role offers an excellent opportunity to grow pastry and baking skills within a professional, creative, and high-end kitchen environment.
Salary: R6,500 per month (negotiable depending on experience)
Previous experience in a pastry or bakery department within a fine dining or luxury restaurant environment
Relevant pastry, culinary qualification, or professional training (advantageous)
Strong understanding of pastry techniques, baking fundamentals, and kitchen hygiene standards
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under supervision
Excellent attention to detail and a passion for precision
Positive attitude and eagerness to learn and develop within the pastry team
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Good communication and teamwork skills
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required
Assist senior pastry chefs with preparation of desserts, baked goods, and pastry components
Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the pastry section at all times
Ensure all ingredients, doughs, and mixes are prepared and stored according to food safety regulations
Support the team in delivering high-quality pastry items consistently
Follow recipes, portioning, and presentation standards as directed by senior pastry chefs
Contribute to a positive and professional kitchen environment
