Job Summary
A well-established ophthalmology practice based in Northcliff, Johannesburg, is seeking a skilled and experienced Ophthalmic Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate should be professional, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment.
Start Date: May 2026 or sooner
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00
Salary: R20 000 - R25 000 depending on experience
Minimum Requirements:
- 1 – 2 years’ experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant
- Ophthalmic Assistant Qualification (Level 1 & 2)
- Experience working in an ophthalmology practice
- Proficient in computer usage
- Experience working with Elixir software
- Experience operating Heidelberg OCT equipment
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting the ophthalmologist with patient examinations
- Conducting pre-screening tests and diagnostic procedures
- Operating ophthalmic equipment, including OCT
- Managing patient records and clinical data
- Ensuring smooth patient flow within the practice

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Professional and patient-focused approach
