Job Summary
Our client, a leader in the FMCG Wholesale sector and based in Ormonde, Johannesburg; is looking to employ an experienced and business -mind General Manager to their team.
A proven track record of at least seven years leading FMCG operations & sales, with significantly high revenue / turnover, will secure this appointment.
This is a senior level appointment.
Requirements:
- Degree in Business, Finance, Economics or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 7 years in leadership roles. FMCG sector experience is advantageous.
- Proven record in leading operations and sales with significant turnover.
- Strategic and forward-thinking.
- Decisive and confident under pressure.
- Innovative and agile.
- Strong relationship builder with negotiation skills.
- Financially astute.
- Resilient and adaptable.
Responsibilities and expectations but not limited to:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a business strategy to maintain market leadership and meet customer needs.
- Drive innovation and transformation in FMCG operations and retail and wholesale sales.
- Identify and capitalise on expansion opportunities, including new business and market penetration.
- Foster an executive mindset that embraces agility, resilience and continuous improvement.
Human Capital Management
- Build and lead a high-performing team.
- Guide the management team and talent to enhance leadership and workforce efficiency.
- Promote organisational health and employee growth while supporting diversity, inclusion and engagement.
- Oversee divisions to optimise productivity while maintaining a strong corporate culture.
General Management
- Ensure smooth day-to-day operations across sales, marketing and business development.
- Strengthen operational efficiency through effective management practices.
- Implement risk management strategies and ensure compliance.
- Align business objectives with sustainability and community initiatives.
Financial Budgeting and Management
- Lead the formulation and execution of divisional budgets to ensure profitability and cost optimisation.
- Drive business plans, strategies and turnover for sustainable growth.
- Maintain strong relationships with members and financial teams to enhance fiscal health.
- Implement financial controls, performance metrics and accountability measures.
Customer and Market Relationships
- Establish customer-focused business relationships to enhance brand loyalty, market share and business growth.
- Use data analytics to monitor competition and market trends.
- Build strong partnerships with members, suppliers and stakeholders.
- Oversee pricing and promotional strategies to maintain competitiveness.
