Summary of Role

The Lead Senior Network Engineer is responsible for end‑to‑end delivery of complex network projects across SD‑WAN, Wireless, and General Network platforms. This role provides technical leadership, ensures high‑quality design and implementation, drives project execution, guarantees complete and accurate documentation, and oversees formal handover to operations teams to ensure stable, supportable solutions.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Engineering

• Act as the technical lead across SD‑WAN, Wireless, and Core Network platforms.
  
• Own the design, implementation, optimisation, and troubleshooting of enterprise and service‑provider network solutions.
  
• Provide expert input into architecture, standards, and best practices.
  
• Review and approve technical designs, low‑level designs (LLDs), configurations, and change plans.
  
• Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex network issues.
  

Project Delivery

• Drive end‑to‑end project delivery, from requirements gathering and design through implementation and closure.
  
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to agreed quality standards.
  
• Work closely with project managers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  
• Identify risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans throughout the project lifecycle.
  
• Support project planning, estimations, and technical governance.
  

Operational Oversight & Collaboration

• Provide senior‑level support and guidance to Operations teams when required.
  
• Act as a technical escalation point for complex incidents and changes.
  
• Collaborate with Security, Cloud, and Application teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  
• Mentor and guide junior and mid‑level engineers.
  

Delivery & Leadership

• Proven experience leading complex network projects end to end.
  
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive outcomes independently.
  
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
  
• Experience working in structured IT service or enterprise environments.
  

Requirements

Qualifications

• Matric and a Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  
• Relevant certifications such as:
  
• CCNP / CCIE
  
• SD‑WAN vendor certifications
  
• Wireless certifications
  

Skills

• SD‑WAN solutions (e.g. Cisco, Fortinet, VMware, Palo Alto, or equivalent)
  
• Enterprise Wireless (design, deployment, optimisation)
  
• Routing & Switching (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS)
  
• Experience designing and supporting large‑scale, multi‑site networks.
  
• Strong understanding of network security fundamentals (firewalls, segmentation, VPNs)
