Job Summary
Main tasks and responsibilities(not limited to);
· Oversee all laboratory testing activities (raw materials, in-process, and finished goods).
· Ensure rubber compound testing complies with internal specifications and customer requirements.
· Approve test results and authorize release of materials/products.
· Ensure calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
· Maintain accurate test records, certificates of compliance, and traceability.
· Investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
· Support ISO and quality audits (internal and external).;
· Support product development trials and technical improvements.
· Analyze test data to improve compound performance.
· Collaborate with Production Manager on process optimization.
· Assist with root cause analysis for product failures.
· Provide technical guidance to workshop and production teams
· Ensure compliance with:
· Occupational Health & Safety Act
· ISO Quality standards (if applicable)
· Internal SOPs and work instructions
· Maintain safe laboratory and workshop environments.
· Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections.
· Ensure proper chemical handling and storage.
· Supervise Lab Assistant
· Conduct performance reviews and monthly check-ins.
· Train staff on testing procedures and production standards.
· Ensure SOP adherence and accountability.
· Identify skill gaps and training needs.
Requirements
Matric/ Grade 12;
Rubber Technology;
Quality qualification
Ms Office proficiency;
Technical Experience;
5 years Experience;
BMH Experience;
