About the Company

Our client is a confectionery manufacturer operating high-speed production and packaging lines. The business is looking for four qualified, trade-tested Junior Millwrights to join its technical production team.

The Opportunity

This development programme gives qualified Millwrights the opportunity to build practical experience in a busy manufacturing environment. You will work alongside experienced team members, receive structured training and gain exposure to processing, packaging and plant equipment.

Your progress will be reviewed throughout the 18 months. Strong performance may lead to consideration for a permanent Millwright role if a position becomes available.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with planned maintenance and production equipment breakdowns.

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults under appropriate supervision.

• Install, fit, test and align components such as bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts and pulleys.

• Work on confectionery processing and packaging equipment.

• Carry out basic welding, fabrication and machining tasks as required.

• Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately.

• Follow workplace safety, food safety, quality and housekeeping standards.

• Take part in training, practical assessments and competency reviews.

Minimum Requirements

• A completed Millwright trade test and trade test certificate.

• Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science, or an equivalent N3 certificate with relevant trade subjects.

• An N4 Mechanical Engineering certificate or equivalent qualification.

• Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends and standby when operationally required.

• South African citizen or a valid legal right to work in South Africa.

• Ability to perform the physical duties of a factory-based role, subject to any required pre-employment medical assessment.

Advantageous

• Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).

• Exposure to maintenance in a manufacturing, FMCG or food production environment.

• Experience with high-speed production or packaging equipment.

You are a qualified Millwright at an early stage of your career who wants to grow your technical skills in a production environment. You enjoy practical fault-finding, work carefully and safely, and are keen to learn from an experienced maintenance team.
