Job Summary
Our Client in the Engineering/Manufacturing Industry is seeking to employ a Fabrication Production Manager to their team based in Benoni, Johannesburg.
Requirements:
- Technical or Engineering Qualification is required.
- Management Diploma or Degree is required.
- Minimum 20 years’ work experience with a proven track record in a fabrication facility is essential.
- Knowledge of the OHS Act is required.
- Computer literacy in MS Word and Excel is required.
- The ability to read and interpret CAD drawings is a prerequisite.
- Knowledge of more than one official language is an advantage.
- Experience with all facets of steel fabrication is essential.
- The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of staff is essential.
- The ability to mentor staff is essential.
- Extensive experience in a fabrication environment with a proven managerial track record is essential.
- The ability to drive quality performance and meet strict production and project deadlines is essential.
- The ability to work in a high-output production facility and manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously is required.
- Exemplary planning and scheduling skills are required.
Responsibilities, but not limited to:
- Plan and schedule production activities, including daily meetings with the Sales Administration Manager to receive job information packs.
- Plan and organise production schedules to meet client requirements.
- Conduct daily meetings with fabrication floor supervisors to deliver planning schedules and ensure supervisory alignment.
- Implement and manage quality control and assurance measures.
- Manage health and safety protocols to ensure compliance throughout the facility.
- Manage human resources and external contractors to achieve production targets and deadlines.
- Develop and manage production budgets and cost-control systems.
- Manage and mentor staff to support skills development and growth.
- Oversee equipment maintenance management and monitoring.
- Resolve production constraints through problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure that daily and monthly fabrication targets are met from preparation to final assembly.
- Provide weekly and monthly reports to the executive team to ensure production and commercial targets are met.
- Establish and maintain lean manufacturing practices to minimise waste and rework.
- Ensure engineering good practice and adherence to welding and fabrication standards.
- Maintain the overall upkeep and housekeeping of the production facility.
- Manage and maintain all production and HR documentation and records.
