A company is seeking a dynamic and highly organised HR Generalist to support a fast-paced Commodity Trading operations. The successful candidate will manage core HR functions, support workforce planning, and ensure compliance with labour legislation while contributing to a high-performance culture within a global trading environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
Coordinate end-to-end recruitment for trading, operations, logistics, risk, and support roles.
Prepare job descriptions, screen candidates, conduct interviews, and manage onboarding.
Partner with hiring managers to understand specialised trading skill sets.
2. HR Administration
Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, and HR documentation.
Process new hires, terminations, and employee changes in HR systems.
Manage leave, benefits, and payroll inputs.
3. Employee Relations
Provide guidance on HR policies, disciplinary matters, grievance handling, and conflict resolution.
Ensure fair and consistent application of company policies and labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EEA)
4. Performance & Training
Assist with performance appraisal cycles and KPI tracking for trading and operational teams.
Coordinate training programs, compliance courses, and skills development initiatives.
Work with management to identify training gaps in trading analytics, risk, compliance, and systems.
5. Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure HR processes align with industry regulations and internal audit requirements.
Support workplace health & safety, employment equity reporting, and B-BBEE initiatives.
Collaborate with legal or compliance teams on regulatory HR documentation.
6. Culture, Engagement & Support
Drive employee engagement initiatives in a high-pressure trading environment.
Support wellness, team-building, and retention strategies.
Contribute to organisational culture, values, and communication practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.
3–5 years’ HR Generalist experience (preferably within commodity trading, logistics, financial services, or similar high-intensity environments).
Solid knowledge of South African labour law.
Experience working with HRIS systems (Sage, Workday, BambooHR, etc.).
Strong competency in recruitment, administration, and employee relations.
Advantageous: Exposure to trading environments (metals, energy, agri, freight, derivatives, risk management)
