Job Summary
Software Development Manager required in Johannesburg. This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing multiple operational teams to deliver high-impact custom software projects and requires strategic thinking, full-cycle project management, and a strong customer focus, with an emphasis on building relationships and fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented team culture. Experience within consultation is required.
Responsibilities:
- Track tasks, milestones, deliverables, and timelines to ensure projects stay within budget and scope.
- Manage dependencies, resources, and risks effectively.
- Own end-to-end delivery of custom software projects.
- Form and stabilise delivery teams through onboarding, off boarding, and rotations.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and career development planning.
- Conduct performance reviews and one-on-one meetings.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer accounts.
- Deliver status reports and manage financials.
- Strengthen customer partnerships through proactive engagement and mentorship.
Requirements
- Previous consulting experience.
- Experience working on custom software solutions.
- Full-cycle project management, including planning, execution, and delivery.
- Experience leading five or more operational teams.
- Strong customer engagement and relationship management.
- Ability to perform real-time business analysis and problem-solving with rapid context-switching.
- Familiarity with custom software delivery processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Strategic thinking and proactive problem-solving.
