Copywriter & Content Specialist – Luxury Hospitality Group – Johannesburg, Gauteng
Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a sharp, curious, and highly skilled Copywriter & Content Specialist for the Johannesburg support office of a proudly South African, family-owned luxury hospitality group with a portfolio spanning iconic game reserves and boutique hotels across South Africa.
This is a high-output, hands-on content role for a writer who genuinely loves the craft. The successful candidate will produce quality copy consistently across multiple formats and workstreams, from AEO-optimised web authority content and long-form editorial to trade communications, brochures, and press releases.
The team is small, fast-moving, and deeply values strong writing. Every word produced is considered a guest touchpoint, and the standard reflects that.
Please note: Candidates currently based in Johannesburg will be given strong preference. This is a live-out position.
Minimum Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years’ professional copywriting experience with a strong and varied portfolio
- Demonstrated ability to write across multiple formats including digital, editorial, trade, and print
- Proven experience writing website copy with a strong understanding of SEO principles
- Working knowledge of, or genuine interest in, AEO/GEO (Answer Engine Optimisation / Generative Engine Optimisation)
- Strong research capability with the ability to produce factually grounded and specific content on complex topics including conservation, ecology, geography, and luxury travel
- Experience adapting tone and writing style for different audiences and communication channels
- Familiarity with Google Analytics and Google Search Console
- Comfortable working within a CMS and managing website copy workflows
- Excellent command of British English with strong grammar, structure, and editorial precision
- Familiarity with AI tools as drafting and research accelerants while maintaining editorial quality
- Experience within luxury hospitality, travel, conservation, or lifestyle sectors advantageous
- Stable work history with a portfolio of published work
Key Responsibilities:
Website & Digital Authority Content
- Write and maintain AEO-optimised website copy across the group’s portfolio of properties
- Develop permanent authority sub-pages and FAQ-structured content designed to surface in AI answer engines and search features
- Produce question-led, entity-rich content demonstrating knowledge of properties, wildlife, conservation, and locations
- Refresh and update existing website copy to ensure continued accuracy and AEO alignment
Brand Copywriting & Channel Content
- Produce copy for brochures, sales collateral, email campaigns, in-room materials, and print advertising
- Write video scripts, YouTube descriptions, and presentation content as required
- Draft press releases, award submissions, and media-facing materials
- Write charity and event copy including auction lots and gala materials
- Produce internal communications and operational content as required
Blog & Editorial Content
- Produce well-researched, long-form blog posts across the portfolio covering wildlife, conservation, destinations, food, design, and sustainability
- Write according to a defined editorial calendar supporting both SEO and AEO content goals
Trade Communications
- Write and maintain a regular cadence of trade communications including newsletters, property updates, offers, and seasonal campaigns
- Produce copy for monthly promotions and rate-based campaigns across the portfolio
- Maintain consistency of message and accuracy across all trade channels
